LEWIS RICHARD LUCHS
AUTHOR WEBSITE

Welcome
Dear Reader,

Welcome to my new website, www.lewisrichardluchs.com.

I have always thought of Children of the Manse as the book I had to write for its value as a successful and moving adoption story. But I wrote the book mostly for my sons and grandchildren, and was, at first, a reluctant blogger with little interest in promoting Children of the Manse to a larger public. Once I tried blogging, however, I found I enjoyed putting my thoughts down on paper. Writing blogs clarified my mind and took my first book to a larger audience.

If Children of the Manse was the book I believed I had to write, Diplomatic Tales—the memoir of my career and family life as an American diplomat in six foreign nations—was the book I had long-wanted to write. I think Diplomatic Tales brings the reader new insights into the daily work life of American diplomats. Diplomatic Tales also describes the sad and funny challenges of raising four sons in six very different nations. You can read an objective Kirkus Review of Diplomatic Tales under Reviews in this new website.

Book One of Children of the Manse only follows the four children through childhood. A friend asked, how did you all turn out? I responded with Book Two of Children of the Manse which describes the crises of their teen years and their adulthood.

Blogging on my former website was based on my first book, Children of the Manse. Now that I have published Diplomatic Tales, I want to add US diplomacy and foreign policy to my blogging subjects and, beyond that, to sometimes post blogs on other subjects and issues of current interest.

Someone said that “four published books do an author make”, a title I will boldly add to "Diplomat" with this new website.

Please note that the 28 blogs for Children of the Manse —which are “evergreen” because they discuss perennial issues in foster care and adoption—have been transferred to this new site, as has an author interview and a few other items I think are still relevant.

Thank you for visiting,
